Antique Tekke Turkmen ‘dip khali’ rug with large guls and good colour
Circa 1890
These are considered to be ‘half size’ rugs; half the length and half the width of a main carpet
This example has 3 rows of 8 Tekke guls with a soft warm red/brown colour There are highlights throughout the rug in a light crimson cochineal colour The large elem panels at the ends of the rug are drawn with a small shrub design The minor gul is well drawn with a complete 'bow and arrow' design The main border has an unusual small box design
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile, the rug is soft with a floppy handle
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display
