Handmade Sultanabad Ziegler Style Rug, Cream and Red Wool Rug
About the Item
This traditional Ziegler rug is one of our more luxurious rugs made on looms by master weavers of Afghan rugs. This cream rug is made with or all handspun wool, with the color coming from organic vegetable dyes. This carpet features an all-over floral design with a beige cream background and brown, red and beige accents and details. Floral motifs have been delicately woven in a symmetrical design through the centre, this pattern is then enclosed by a highly detailed deep red border. Both color and design sure to uplift any wood floors or carpet in your home.
The large-scale Sultanabad design is regarded as the most appealing to European and American tastes. The rugs of Sultanabad are extremely desirable in the modern marketplace. The popularity of Sultanabad rugs dates back to the mid-19th century. Sultanabad’s were designed and produced for export to European consumers in the 19th and 20th centuries, the Ziegler firm being the primary producer.
