This modern wool rug is a handwoven Kilim constructed in Afghanistan in the early 2000s. The design has been woven with a simple, contrasting colour palette featuring black and cream. The design is a repeating pattern with diamond motifs woven symmetrically with a border at each end. The master weavers of Afghanistan use only the finest materials in constructing these flatweave area rugs, including hand-spun wool and cotton. The colours come from organic vegetable dyeing techniques used for generations.
