Rug & Kilim's Baluch Tribal Rug in Red, Blue and Brown Geometric Patterns
About the Item
Hand knotted in wool, this 4x7 Baluch rug represents a new line of tribal carpets in the Modern Classics Collection by Rug & Kilim. Each piece represents the work of women weavers in Afghanistan, preserving the rich tradition of their centuries-old craft.
On the Design:
Tones of rich burgundy red, brown and navy blue underscore a dense all over play of medallions and geometric patterns, in which keen eyes will further admire an emphasis on latch-hook accents—a widely celebrated representation of ram's horn motifs in tribal rugs. Admirers of the craft will further appreciate the over all execution of this classic, old-world look and rustic charm with a subtle element of refinement and sharpness—a more durable reinvention of the primitivist rug sensibility that still honors its nomadic foundations and the dedicated weavers behind it today.
