Rug & Kilim’s Contemporary Baluch rug in Red and Green Patterns
About the Item
Hand knotted in wool, this 7x9 Baluch rug represents a new line of tribal carpets in the Modern Classics Collection by Rug & Kilim. Each piece represents the work of women weavers in Afghanistan, preserving the rich tradition of their centuries-old craft.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft may appreciate design elements inherent to the Mashwani tribe in this piece. Mashwani Baluch rugs are often recognized for remarkably tight knotting and delicious, saturated colors like those at play here. This piece enjoys rich red and green in the patterns. It’s a comfortable, personal piece, exemplary of primitivist, old-world patterns and the devoted tribal weavers who recapture their beauty.
