This 9x12 rug from Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics Collection represents a new line inspired by vintage and antique Oushak rugs—made with hand-knotted wool in one of our most luxurious high-end Nepalese pile qualities.
On the Design:
One fundamental idea that R&K Principal, Jahanshah Nazmiyal has long taught to his colleagues and teammates is that the best handmade modern rugs are made after one masters the classics. This piece is our collection’s contribution to classic styles reinterpreted completely in a modern fashion, reflecting a modern interpretation of “ushak” design, sometimes spelled “Oushak” in our craft.
The piece features a soothing, neutral colorway composed of cream, slate blue, gray, and light-pink hues underscoring elegant spaced-out floral patterns. These and many other beauties mark a thoughtful and inventive contribution to the rustic, old-world charm and transitional whimsy of Oushak rugs that distinguishes them from other traditional Oriental rug provenances.
