Vintage Afghan Beshir Turkmen prayer rug with rams horn design to the Mihrab Circa 1950 A very good small prayer rug, the rams horn design in this format is associated with the Turkmen tribes; especially the Ersari / Beshir, who settled in northern Afghanistan This very sweet small rug is dated to either side at the top, 1328 which translates to 1949/50 So the rug is now about 75 years old The field has a vertical row of five Turkmen guls, surrounded by pomegranate flowers This is a charming and colourful little rug The rug is in excellent condition with slight wear and full pile The rug is suitable for normal domestic use or would make a great wall hanging Additional information: Place of Origin: Turkmenistan Period: Circa 1950 Size: 4ft 0in x 2ft 8in (123 x 80cm) Reference: D-0559
