About the Item

This oriental Afghan rug was made in Afghanistan during the 1970s. This rug is dyed in shades of red and turquoise. An Afghan rug is a type of traditional hand-woven rug that comes from Afghanistan. It is known worldwide for its high quality, durability and distinctive design. Afghan rugs often use geometric patterns, which can be quite intricate. Typical motifs include Gul, floral symbols and various forms of rhombuses, octagons and stars. Animal, plant and everyday life scenes also appear in some rugs, although abstract and geometric patterns dominate. Afghan rugs are known for using deep, intense colours such as red, burgundy, dark brown, black and shades of blue and green. Natural dyes are traditionally used, which gives the colours of the rugs durability and a distinctive look. These rugs are hand-woven, making each one unique. Afghan weavers often use high-quality wool, which is tightly woven to ensure the durability of the rugs. In some cases, silk is also used. There are many types of Afghan rugs, each from a different region or ethnic group. The most popular are the Bokhara rugs - known for their Gul motif, the Chobi - with more subtle, earthy colors, and the Akhche - with characteristic geometric patterns. Carpet weaving is an important part of Afghan culture, passed down from generation to generation. This craft reflects not only aesthetics, but also the traditions, history and way of life of different ethnic groups in Afghanistan. Due to their uniqueness and quality, Afghan rugs are valued both as utilitarian objects and as works of art. The rug is in original vintage condition. It has signs of age, losses in the fleece. The fringes are worn in places, but should be remembered that the characteristic feature of original Persian rugs is their imperfections. Before shipping, the rug will be professionally cleaned and ready for use.
