18th Century Imperial Ningxia Chinese Throne Back Cover with Lion Dog

About the Item

A very rare Imperial Ningxia throne cover from the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, distinguished by an exquisitely drawn lion dog, which is an auspicious symbol of protection and power, surmounted by a stylised cloud band and flanked below by a pair of lotus flowers with tendrils, symbols of purity. The soft and silky wool in pristine condition makes this example a true gem of early Chinese weaving, and a collectable example of Museum quality.
