About the Item
Distinguished by a soft yellow background, the design of this unusual khaden consists of three Mandala elements, symbols of the universe, resulting from a stylisation of the Greek fret design, which is ubiquitous in Chinese and Tibetan art, enclosed by four bracket motifs. The stains resulted from Yak butter, used in propitiatory rituals, strongly suggests that it was originally intended for monastic purposes.
