Early 20th Century Chinese Peking Carpet ( 6' x 8'9" - 183 x 267 )

About the Item

Not yet Art Deco, still this unusual Peking rug has several strong stylistic traits pointing in that direction: the straw yellow ground with an ultra-subtle tone-one-tone pattern, the ivory border with outline dragons and Chinese characters, the generous use of open space. This northeastern Chine carpet bridges the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, and still looks chic today.
