Showcasing a unique bamboo design, incredible detail and texture, this hand knotted wool contemporary Chinese Art Deco style rug is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The landscape pictorial and sultry colorway woven into this Chinese Art Deco style rug work together creating a truly classic look. The abrashed field features bamboo running the length of the composition with two crane birds.
As with most Chinese designs, the various motifs are not only beautiful but carry a great deal of meaning. The crane is one of the most widely used symbols throughout Chinese art and literature and figures heavily in Chinese mythology. The creature is thought to represent longevity, immortality, nobility, and fidelity. It is often represented alongside bamboo, as it is in this piece, symbolizing endurance, strength, and good luck.
