About the Item
‘Mutazioni’ is a collection of two carpets displaying a top-down view of fictitious insects: One is Tacua Fukushimae. Measures: 85 x 3 m.
This arthropod animal has been conceived from lanzavecchia + wai’s fascination with historical entomological illustrations and the presence of radiation which is floating in our cosmos. Its name has been independently derived from the nuclear disasters of fukushima the fear of nuclear energy matched by our growing dependence on it and in addition, allude to a new species of a beetle and cicada respectively.
The hand knotted rug depicts background patterns which follow the precision of the ‘golden ratio’ as a means of emphasizing the asymmetrical imperfection of the mutated specimens at hand.
Nature, being the system of perfect design evolution bestowed upon us, is distorted and irrevocably changed by humankind’s hand after millions of years, and the effects of this create unknown ripples in our future, showing us how fragile life is.’ this is what lanzavecchi + way hopes to convey with their designs.

Nodus Rug
Nodus Project
Nodus is a craft workshop with a cultural plan: the oldest traditions and knowledge in the art of carpet design are reinterpreted using the vision of the most innovating Designers and Architects, producing only unique pieces, promoting through events and publications in order to spread the knowledge to all about the new shapes and forms of a piece that has accompanied man since antiquity. Craftsmanship: Nodus has selected from the best producers in six countries of the world (Nepal, Pakistan, India, Turkmenistan, China and Turkey) visiting them one by one, verifying materials, techniques, expert craftsmen and ethical production. Each carpet from Nodus will be a unique piece, entirely made by hand, even including the packaging. The result is a collection of 60 carpets that outlines a new horizon of shapes and colours, a collection that unhinges borders and goes beyond the hand of reason.
The spirit of the carpets is captured in dynamic and organic forms, like putting together a puzzle, assumes irregular profiles or takes inspiration from contemporary and everyday products such as fabrics, tablecloths, books and maps.
All the rules are torn up, except one: The hand weaving, knot by knot.
Whether you purchase or only appreciate the quality of a piece from Nodus, you can be assured that the carpet has been produced with the utmost respect, first and foremost for human rights, and the right to good working conditions and fair compensation.

In Asian lands, traditional buildings are characterized by the Jali, large half-closed architectural openings with perforated elements that allow light to filter into the interior. The windows conceal those who live inside and at the same time allow them to observe the outside world change as the light changes. Measures: 180 x 300 cm.
Phoenix is a mythological bird that rises from its ashes in the fire, a symbol of spiritual rebirth and human regeneration. In different cultures his return is considered an auspicious event, associated with the rising of the sun and the beginning of a new period of prosperity and fertility.
Its fiery plumage expands itself with warm colours like a sunlit landscape. Forming a feathered tail, red bows glide softly to the ends of the carpet and are knotted on wooden rods.
With phoenix, the carpet becomes like a window on the world...
