Antique Indo-Tabriz Square Rug with Pictorials and Floral Pattern

About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool and originating from India circa 1920-1930, this 15×15 antique square rug is inspired by Persian rugs of Tabriz provenance—a rare and collectible piece as a new addition to our Collection. On the Design: Burgundy and navy blue borders enclose a beige-brown field, both teeming with elaborate floral patterns and animal illustrations. Admirers of the craft may note this as a “hunting” rug given the pictorial representation of animals, all with complementary floral patterns of graceful curvature. Admirers of the craft will appreciate this as an extremely collectible piece of its period, like few special pieces with such a personal, intentional look and finesse of any antique, let alone an oversized rug—likely a custom aristocratic commission of its time befitting its regal nature. Condition: This antique Indian rug further enjoys good condition, with even and subdued wear consistent with its age.
