Antique Wool Yellow Handwoven Floral Indian Agra Runner

About the Item

This antique Agra Runner has a saffron-yellow field with delicate ivory and raspberry-red palmette and floral vine around a column of six linked pistachio-yellow lozenges each with a circular floral band and a pair of ivory palmettes surrounded by an ivory outer linked-leaf band, in a pistachio-green border of ivory meandering floral vine between an inner ivory and pistachio-yellow similar and a plain outer raspberry-red stripe. Agra rugs, originating from the city of Agra in northern India, are renowned for their intricate designs and high-quality craftsmanship. Traditionally woven from fine wool or silk, these rugs feature patterns inspired by Persian and Mughal art, often incorporating floral motifs, medallions, and elaborate borders. Agra rugs are known for their durability and vibrant colors, achieved through the use of natural dyes. These rugs have been produced since the Mughal era, and their elegance and historical significance continue to make them highly sought after by collectors and interior designers worldwide.
