A 100% pure Mohair pile rug, hand knotted. Exclusive contemporary rug, hand-knotted from pure mohair - Angora goat wool. Our collection of high quality Perfect Plains Designer rugs is made in India by excellent artisans. In order to get an organic look, we specifically looked for old women in small villages who can still master the art of hand spinning. This has not been common practice in the rug industry for a number of years. Hand spinning gives the wool a certain irregularity in the yarn thickness, which is what gives this rug its special look and adds a wonderful shimmer. The term mohair comes from Arabic and describes a fine weave of hair. The Angora goat from near Ankara in Turkey is the origin of the material. Mohair is shiny, soft and has a particularly pleasant feel. Mohair is one of the most exclusive and expensive natural fibers.
