Hand-knotted in a special blend of Ghazni wool, this 6x8 rug from Rug & Kilim’s custom-classics Burano collection is inspired by antique Khotan Samarkand rugs of East Turkestan, known to favor Buddhist imagery and similar oriental motifs.
On the Design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate this piece’s more unexpected, colorful modern adaptation of the geometric floral patterns of Khotan rugs. Here, a deep blue field and border underscores palmettes, lotus medallions, and a variety of other celebrated motifs in a wide range of bright hues—with especially present gold, pink, and beige-brown tones the keen eye will admire.
