Made with hand-knotted wool, this custom rug sample is an exciting addition to the Rug & Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection—a contemporary reimagining of Swedish minimalism and vintage rugs and textiles of Rollakan and Rya traditions.
On the design:
This custom rug sample exemplifies a careful balance between order and asymmetry, with geometric elements arranged in a rhythmic pattern. The colorway exhibits remarkable subtlety with a palette featuring beige, cream, blue, green and red tones creating gentle tonal variations. Our use of undyed natural yarns, for example, lends a subtle striae with more of a sense of movement and depth—a nod to Rollakan techniques in a modern fashion. This subtle intricacy both brings out the movement and pays homage to a traditional Scandinavian weaving technique alike.
