About the Item

This 12x14 vintage Dhurrie rug is an exciting new curation from Rug & Kilim’s latest acquisition of rare and exemplary mid-century flatweaves of the same style. Handwoven in cotton, it originates from India circa 1950-1960. On the Design: This vintage flatweave flourishes in sharp all-over geometric patterns in blue and gold tones in the field, along with a gold Greek key border resting atop a dark-blue background. Keen eyes will further admire the subtle look of abrashed patina and striation within the field—an intricate and thoughtful revival of the classic look of Kilims and similar pieces brought to a more livable, modern quality. This is a collectible piece, and a work of welcoming presence and smart balance alike, with vast design applications for many spaces today. Condition: This vintage Dhurrie kilim has good condition for its age and origin.

Vintage Moroccan Blue Kilim Rug with Geometric Border and Two Diamond Lozenges
Located in Morristown, NJ
Antique early 20th century Moroccan Kilim rug, with two central diamond medallions, made in simple flat-woven or tapestry technique, in which the pattern is produced by horizontal wefts that cover the vertical warps. The ground is a denim blue color with browns, greens, beiges, pinks and blues woven into the border decoration and diamond medallions. The desire for the ‘exotic’ rug family in Western culture played no small part in the entrance of Moroccan style to the world stage and the gradual western influence on the style we see today.
