About the Item
Collectible antique vintage Moroccan shag rug in excellent condition. This is a rare and unique example due to its unusual tribal design. Featuring an irregular geometric diamond pattern of alternating deeply saturated violet and creamy natural white wool. The jewel-tone design has bright reds that appear to glow, evoking an almost stained glass like appearance. There is an infinite amount of variation and movement within the pattern, making it a majestic piece.
It is an authentic Berber piece with fringe on one end. Handmade in the mid-century, sometime between 1960s-70s by the Ait Bou Ichaouen tribe in the eastern high Atlas mountains. Its intended use was for special occasions and seen as an object of prestige.
It is made of handspun wool from sheep in the high mountains. This rug has a thick shag of lustrous soft wool with dense pile and solid structure. Medium pile height, it is just the right thickness. The glossy wool and saturated colors give this rug a captivating effect. In excellent condition for its age and is a fine collectible rug. A one of a kind, unique handmade carpet.
Perfect for contemporary use, whether in a midcentury modern space or a contemporary interior. Also could be used as a tapestry or wall hanging.
