About the Item

A large room sized Kilim rug with geometric design, handwoven in Morocco. It is made of fine quality wool - hand spun, hand dyed, flat-woven by master weavers. This Kilim rug is very decorative and has room size - circa 295 x 185 cm. The condition is very good. It was made in the Atlas Mountains by tribal women. The color shades are black and beige. The diamond design is embroidered. Handwoven Kilim rugs are very looked after since they go well with many Interior styles such Traditional, Farmhouse, Hollywood Regency, Industrial, vintage boho and Art Deco. The appearance of this rug is excellent.  • Beautiful Moroccan tribal Kilim rug • All handmade, handwoven, flat-woven • Hand spun wool • Very good, fresh washed • Land of origin: Morocco Influence of North African Rugs on European Modern Art. These abstract designs had a great influence on European Modern Art. An initial date was a travel to Tunis in the year 1914. Paul Klee, August Macke and Louis Moilliet visited Tunesia and their Artworks after that trip showed many new inspirations in abstract design. We recommend a book published in 2013 titled "Marokkanische Teppiche und die Kunst der Moderne" if you are interested in learning about the interaction of Moroccan / North African Art and Modern Art. The Orient had a lasting fascination for painters in Europe. The paintings "View of Tangier" and "Moroccan Landscape" by Eugène Delacroix date from the 19th century. Henri Matisse and Wassily Kandinsky were other painters who prepared the terrain for Paul Klee's trips to Tunis (1914) and Egypt (1928). The Djoharian Design Collection is located in Germany, all our rugs are shipped from there. We are licensed FAIR-TRADE partner of LABEL STEP FAIR TRADE CARPETS. Label STEP is the fair-trade non-profit organization committed to the wellbeing of weavers and workers in the handmade carpet industry.
