Rug & Kilim’s Agra Style Rug in an All over Red, Green Trellis Floral Pattern

About the Item

Hand-knotted in wool, an exemplary 6x7 rug from Rug & Kilim’s Modern Classics collection. Hailing from Egypt, this piece is inspired by the 17th Century Agra rug styles. Witnessing a union of traditional and modern aesthetics, the rug enjoys a symphony of floral and geometric patterns. Flowers being encased, prevail in tones of orange, green and blue outlined with white and golden border for a sharp detailing on a rich maroon backdrop. The borders move gracefully by alternating the floral and geometric elements for an elevated visual appeal on a contemporary scale. Connoisseurs may notice allusions to the Holbein pattern, much like the honeycomb trellis, encasing these intriguing floral motifs in the field whereas the border consists primarily of herati leaves; a very nomadic sensibility among a modern classic like this transitional.
