Soft and elegant Berber high pile rug with Prussian blue ton sur ton design

About the Item

Carpet of old manufacture from the western Middle Atlas part of Morocco. Very rare blue monochromatic carpets (they are usually red), they come mainly from the area around Azrou, an important Berber town located along important trade routes from Meknes and Fez to Khenifra and Midelt. A distinguishing feature are the small decorative elements in a darker shade, testifying to the use of indigo as a dye.
