Vintage Moroccan Boucherouite Tapestry Rug in Ultra-Modern Abstract Design
Located in Barrington, IL
This striking vintage Moroccan Boucherouite tapestry rug, hand-crafted circa mid-20th century, is a vibrant celebration of artistic expression and cultural heritage. Woven from a mix of recycled textiles, this one-of-a-kind piece features a bold, ultra-modern geometric composition in brilliant shades of red, pink, blue, green, purple, yellow, and earthy browns. The abstract design evokes the spirit of mid-century modern art, drawing visual parallels to the works of Josef Albers and Paul Klee, as well as the storied textile traditions of the Gee’s Bend quilts from Alabama.
With its dynamic asymmetry, saturated palette, and raw textile beauty, this rug functions equally well as a decorative wall tapestry or as a centerpiece in a contemporary interior. Ideal for eclectic, bohemian, or art-forward spaces, it exemplifies the spontaneous creativity and rich folk artistry of Morocco’s Berber weaving traditions.
