Early 20th Century American Hand Hooked Rug in a Bird and Flowers Design
About the Item
This early 20th-century American hand-hooked rug features an imaginative and whimsical bird and floral design rendered in a harmonious earth tone palette. With hues of tan, green, yellow, and brown, the composition reflects both the creativity and craftsmanship of its maker, making it one of the most charming and distinctive examples we’ve encountered in vintage American hooked rugs.
The upper portion of the rug exhibits soft fading from over a century of natural light exposure, while the reverse side beautifully preserves the rug’s original, richer colors—offering a rare opportunity to appreciate both the lived history and the vibrant intent of the original design.
Whether displayed on the floor or mounted as wall art (front or reverse), this piece is a captivating and conversation-worthy example of American folk artistry—perfect for rustic, eclectic, or country-inspired interiors.
