Vintage Navajo Wool Rug with Wide Band Pattern in Ivory, Rust, Purple & Yellow
Located in Barrington, IL
This vintage Navajo area rug, handwoven in the late 20th century, is a striking example of Native American textile artistry, showcasing a distinctive wide band pattern in an earthy yet vibrant palette of ivory, rust, purple, and yellow. The composition blends traditional symbolism with bold visual rhythm, reflecting the enduring cultural and spiritual heritage of the Navajo Nation. Crafted using time-honored flat-weave techniques, the rug features a wool body on a cotton foundation, a hallmark of authentic Navajo weaving. The geometric design elements are not merely decorative—they often carry deep spiritual and cultural significance, passed down through generations of Navajo artisans.
