About the Item
This is a vintage Karastan rug with a beautiful Persian Tabriz design. Made in the 1980s, the rug is in excellent condition with 100% wool pile. (In the 1980s, the company was the original Karastan.. see below) There are no stains, no cuts, and no problems. The fringe is original and in excellent condition. And importantly, the two sides are in excellent condition.

We were the first rug dealer listed on line (on ebay) on the first month and we sold over the years thousand rugs on line. Since then many people listing on line. Most sellers do not know more the buyer know, they copying my listing where most do not know what we are talking about.
Karastan rug is made on a a loom but they are not as Persian hand made rugs
and if one offer a Karastan with a cut, you do not want to buy it. A hand made Persian hand made rugs are with knots and if you have a small cut, the knots holding and also you can sew it a little and you will have a cut, where with Karastan with a cut, as you walk on the rug the small cut will become linger and in one point you will have two pcs of rug.
We’ve been dealing with rugs since 1971… we know what rugs. Karastan went out of business and the BRAND NAME was sold to Mohawk, who has been manufacturing “Karastan” rugs ever since. This rug was made by the original Karastan Company and is very high quality. If you’d see examples of both companies' products side by side, we suggest you would be able to easily tell which was made by the original Karastan company.
For your info, this rug made in the 1980s and made by the original Karastan company and not by MOACK company who purchased the brand name Karastan.
The Karastan company uses a tea stain to color the sides of the rug. Some Karastan owners prefer lighter sides and use a chlorine bleach solution that can drastically change the color of the rug and the sides. Please use caution when cleaning the rug… we suggest that you NOT use chlorine bleach.
The two sides of any Karastan rug are potential problem points. These rugs (Karastan) are made on an industrial loom. Any cut on the sides will cause the rug to start to unravel. When repaired, many companies use serging equipment. We do this work by hand in order to make sure you get the same quality as new.
