About the Item

Beautiful 19th century Persian Bidjar area rug with a medallion design in a Herati geometric pattern in burgundy, French blue, and navy blue colors. The rug has a combination of an abrash French blue and rich burgundy field colors. The center medallion has a navy blue background with geometric forms in pale yellow, green, pink, blue, and brown with “Ram Horn” extensions in baby blue color on either side. The center of the field has a Herati design set in burgundy color with element design colors in pink, blue, green, yellow, brown, and cream. The corner spandrels are in an abrash French blue. The border is in burgundy colors with design elements in blue, pink, yellow, and green. The rug has a very short pile considering it is over 100 years old but still very beautiful and elegant.
