About the Item
19th Century Persian Kurdish room size rug in a medallion pattern in navy, French blue, green, yellow, and red. The Kurdish village rugs from northwestern Persia have a large elongated diamond medallion that covers a big portion of the field and multiple borders. This beautiful example comes with oversized multiple medallions in rust, blue, and cream colors with the design of vines and flowers. The main field has an abrash blue color with streaks of light blue throughout which is the result of the use of vegetable dyes and wool coloring which adds to the uniqueness and artistry of this rug. The main border is cream colored with a geometric design throughout the border. The Kurdish rugs are renowned for their use of natural dyes and brilliant colors. There is a lot of beautiful green color used in the field and the borders which also adds to the beauty of the rug.
