Antique Circa-1920 Blue and Ivory Wool Floral Persian Bakhtiari Rug

About the Item

This antique, circa 1920, Persian Bakhtiari rug has an ivory field with a light blue, buff-brown and mole-brown angular palmette and floral leafy vine, the shaded mole-brown spandrels with light blue and ivory floral vine, in a broad ivory border with mole-brown stepped palmettes linked by angular serrated leaf vine between buff-brown palmette and serrated leaf vine stripes, outer light blue meandering serrated leaf and flowerhead vine. Persian Bakhtiari rugs are handwoven masterpieces from the Bakhtiari tribe in central Iran, renowned for their durability and intricate designs. These rugs often feature the iconic khesti (garden panel) pattern, depicting floral and nature-inspired motifs in a grid layout, symbolizing paradise. Rich, deep colors like red, navy, and ivory enhance their striking aesthetic. Woven with high-quality wool, Bakhtiari rugs are prized for their dense weave and exceptional craftsmanship, making them a timeless addition to both traditional and modern interiors.
