About the Item

This traditional handwoven Persian Bakhshaish rug has a ruby field enclosing triple stepped lozenge Herati medallion, in similar shaded blue spandrels, with a broad ivory angled palmette vine border, between floral vine stripes, plain outer skittle pattern stripe. Bakhshaish Rugs (also spelled Bakhshayesh and Bekhshayesh) are named after the city of Bakhshaish which is located in the East Azerbaijan Province of Iran. Bakhshaish rugs typically have a unique combination of an all-over geometric design or graphic geometric medallion combined with a traditional repetitive herati pattern. Bakhshaish rugs brilliantly enhance any room they are placed in.
