Antique Persian Area Rug Malayer Design
About the Item
Antique Persian area rug handmade from the highest quality of sheep wool. It’s colored with eco-friendly vegetable dyes that are safe for humans and pets alike. It’s a traditional Sultanabad design handwoven by expert artisans. It’s a lovely area rug that can be incorporated in virtually any home interior design. It has a dimension of 5'1" x 8'8" which works well for living rooms, hallways and bedrooms.
Malayer is a village that can be found close to Hamadan and Sarouk, both well-known rug making centers in ancient Persia. Unlike other rug producing areas that made large sized carpets, Malayer weavers focused more on making smaller area and runner rugs. These rugs are identifiable by the ‘Boteh’ or sprouting seed patterns and use of navy blue as background. Common colors used in Malayer rugs are tan/pink, gold, sky blue, and red.
