Antique Persian Tribal Khamseh Rug 4'10" x 7’4”. The non-Qashghai tribes in SW Persia weaving a wide variety of geometric and abstract scatters and bag faces.  The best weavers are the Baharlu of Turkic descent, Both symmetric and asymmetric knots; wool foundations predominate. Chickens are a popular secondary motif. Also called ‘Shiraz’. Moderate to medium weave. Bright palettes. Moderate to medium price.
