Antique Tribal Baluch Rug

About the Item

The nomadic Baluch tribe is spread out over a large mountainous geographic area in eastern Persia, adjacent to both western Afghanistan and Pakistan. Their weavings share an aesthetic with Turkoman tribal rugs and carpets, with both illustrating stylized floral forms primarily executed in deep red and indigo colorations. Due to the diversity of their rugs having varying levels of weave and wool quality, the better examples are much sought after by collectors. This rug has three dominant latch-hook medallions within a stylized rosette border. The original kilim ends are intact. 5' 10" x 3' 5"
