About the Item

Fine Antique Persian Mahal Rug 10’0" x 16’5”. The secondary grade and type of carpets, usually with allover patterns, from the Sarouk/Arak district.  Type is an offshoot of Sultanabads.  Generally natural dyes, cotton foundations, Persian knots. Room to mansion sizes, scatters and runners. No prayer rugs. An export type; from about 1900 onwards. Moderate to medium prices. Coarse to moderate weave.
