About the Item
An antique Central Asian Turkoman throw rug. The design is a mixture of Salor guls in the field, Saryk hexagon and ‘X’ main border and Tekke skirt (elem) ashik patterns. The tribal mixture of hitherto separate designs is a feature of 20th century Turkoman rugs when tribal distinctions became less important. This is the front pile panel of a large tent storage bag.
