Notable 19th Century Pictorial Kirman Rug

An outstanding notable 19th century Persian Kirman rug with a beautifully rendered depiction of the 18th century founder of the Zandieh Dynasty, Karim Khan in the center woven amidst a wonderful field of flowers. The portrait floats above a contrasting field of scrolling vines and flowers on a dark cranberry background. Each corner depicts Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi, the founder of the 10th century Ghaznavi Dynasty, floating in above a wide border of complementary patterns and colors as the field, with scrolling vines and myriad varieties of flowers.
