The primarily Ersari Turkmen pile tribal carpets of NW Afghanistan, characterized by red fields with repeating medallion (gul) designs, geometric drawing, relatively coarse all wool construction, in all use-types ranging from large carpets, through ensis (door rugs), scatters, bags and bag faces and other types of woven household paraphernalia.
