Vintage Engelas Square Rug
About the Item
A very fine example of single wefted weaving. Long staple and high luster wool in original height with no areas of notable wear. Intricate allover Herati design atop a navy blue field wrapped with brilliant madder root red minor borders and sky blue main border. Wonderful contrast from light and dark side due to the rich quality of wool. Note this carpet has been professionally restored in the spirit of the original. See photographs for detail. Recently professionally cleaned, ready for in-home use! Many years of enjoyment to come with this hand knotted Engelas rug made in Persia circa 1940's vintage. Size measures approximately 4'9" x 6'3".
