19th Century Persian Kurdish Bidjar Runner in All Over Pattern in Blue, Ivory
Located in Barrington, IL
Late 19th Century Antique Persian Kurdish Bidjar Runner in an all over geometric pattern. Originating from the skilled Kurdish weavers, particularly known for their unique contribution to the Bidjar weaving tradition in Persia, this small runner embodies the strength and distinctive designs of authentic village craftsmanship. This wonderful runner showcases a beautiful all-over "Mina Khani" rosettes pattern, a charming design characterized by its repeating floral motifs. The field is a captivating abrash blue color, displaying the traditional way village weavers dyed their wool, where subtle variations in hue gradually change over time to create a beautiful, organic patina. This effect adds depth and character, telling the story of its age and traditional origins. The Mina Khani pattern in this runner is a profusion of colorful flowers intricately scattered throughout the field, bringing a sense of vibrant life to the design. The composition is elegantly framed by a crisp white color border, which beautifully makes the main field stand out and further enhances the rug's overall beauty and the brilliant use of colors.
