Vintage Persian Heriz Rug
About the Item
This antique Heriz has a warm brown field with charcoal, rose, taupe, ivory and gray green elements. It features a characteristic geometric lobbed medallion with pendants that dominates the hexagonal field area. Spandrels in a lighter rose ground color segue to the charcoal-ground herati broder. All areas brim with densely packed stylized floral and geometric motifs. Heriz, in northwestern Iran, is a center for fine tribal rugs which interpret classical Tabriz-style compositions with intricate geometricization and village charm.
