About the Item

Najafabad is a small town that produces rugs and carpets located outside the major weaving center of Isfahan in central Iran. It is also recognized as the trade center for an agricultural region noted for its pomegranates. Rugs from this town have similar designs and colorations of their counterparts from the city, however many of them are woven with slightly coarser weaves. This example measuring 12’ 5” x 8’ 4” features a central circular medallion flanked by scrolling vinery on a scarlet field within an indigo main border with green birds flanking palmettes.
