Vintage Persian Kilim in Burgundy Stripes with Geometric Patterns
About the Item
This vintage 6x6 Persian kilim is handwoven in wool, and originates circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This piece is believed to be a “Turkmen Palas”—flatweaves known to hail from the Ersari, Yomut, and Tekke tribes. Palas Kilims like this use a type of panel weave, in which tribal weaves combine multiple narrow pieces into one square Kilim like this one. This particular tribal Kilim enjoys a rich burgundy with stripes and fine geometric patterns with a gorgeous natural abrash. Keen eyes will further admire beige-brown, as well as navy blue and teal notes in the subtle accents therein. It's an exemplary choice of rustic charm, and its versatile square size offers vast interior design application.s

This mid-century Persian Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.

Vintage Persian Tabriz Mahi Rug in Geometric Pattern in Ivory, and Burgundy
Located in Barrington, IL
his exceptional vintage Persian Tabriz Mahi rug was woven by one of the finest artisan workshops in the historic city of Tabriz, Northwest Persia, during the third quarter of the 20th century. Distinguished by its rare and highly sought-after ivory field, this room-size rug showcases the timeless beauty of the classic Mahi (fish) design — an enduring symbol of Persian textile artistry.
The intricate Mahi pattern, executed with extraordinary precision, is elegantly framed by a rich red border, enhancing the rug’s visual depth and sophistication. Subtle corner accents in deep and light chocolate tones add a refined contrast, enriching the overall composition with warmth and character.
While the Mahi motif has been replicated across Persia and beyond, authentic examples of this caliber — demonstrating master-level craftsmanship, harmonious design, and superior materials — are increasingly rare. This rug is not merely a floor covering but a true work of art, ideal for elevating traditional, transitional, or contemporary interiors with its exquisite detail and historical significance.
