About the Item
61056 Vintage Persian Malayer Hallway Rug with Traditional Style 04'00 x 10'03. Emanating sophistication and traditional style, this hand-knotted wool vintage Persian Malayer runner is a captivating vision of woven beauty. The abrashed navy blue field features an all-over Herati pattern and enclosed with a complementary botanical border. The Classic Herati design, also known as the Mahi or Fish pattern, is amongst the most widespread and well known of all Persian designs, consisting of a flower centered in a diamond accompanied by curving lanceolate leaves that resemble fish. The Herati motif is widely used in Iran and believed to represent the small fishes come up just beneath the surface of the water to swim in the full moon’s reflection. Rustic yet refined, this Persian carpet runner would also complement mountain living for luxury ski chalets, secluded hunting lodges and ranch estates found in Montana, Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Wyoming, or the Adirondacks.
