This exquisite mid-century modern high-pile rya rug, was designed by a Swedish textile artist for Nordiska Industri Aktiebolaget (NIAB), in Gothenburg 1970. Handmade from premium “Kamgarn” Persian wool yarn on a cotton-linen base, the rug boasts a luxurious, high-pile texture that’s soft, inviting, and durable. The rya rug features a sophisticated palette of different shades of blue, turqoise, and violet. The high-pile, hand-knotted design offers a rich texture, transforming the rug into a stunning statement piece for any room. ABOUT NIAB Nordiska Industriaktiebolaget (NIAB), a Swedish design company, was founded in Gothenburg in 1895 by August Johansson. Initially located on Södra Hamngatan and Kyrkogatan, NIAB specialized in pattern design and textile sales, expanding to include other addresses. Estrid Fischer directed the pattern studio from 1895 to 1935, working alongside noted artists like Hulda Hedenborg and Agneta Goës. NIAB held annual textile exhibitions in Gothenburg and became known for its collaborations with talented designers, contributing significantly to Sweden's design heritage.
