About the Item

A rare Scandinavian RYA wall hanging tapestry designed in the 1970s for EGE Rya, a subsidiary of Denmark's prestigious carpet manufacturer, EGE Taepper. The bold and whimsical design depicts a colourful abstract owl with three baby owls sat on a branch, in 100% thick wool pile in shades of orange, red, and golden yellow outlined in black/brown. In very good vintage condition with strong colours and minimal wear. Rya rugs are traditional Scandinavian wool rugs characterized by their shaggy and luxurious pile. These versatile pieces of home decor were used interchangeably as carpets, bed coverings, and wall hangings. In good condition. 100% wool. Design “Ugle orange”. Missing its Ege Vaegrya label. 110cm H x 98cm W (on hanger 138cm H)

Large Abstract Studio Pottery Stoneware 'Pagoda Pot' by Alan Ashpool England 70s

A stunning three hooped ‘Pagoda Pot’ by Dorset potter Alan Ashpool, with a flared bowl to the top, tiered forms made from a mixture of thrown and slipcast sections joined together, culminating in a bell shaped base. Predominantly in an ecru colourway, followed by a dark grey glaze, then a turquoise/blue glaze, culminating in a stunning bronze manganese glaze. There are also beautiful blue flecks in the ecru finish, which were created in the firing process. A wonderfully impressive and tactile piece measuring 40cm in height, in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Alan Ashpool backstamp to the base alongside the original address label. Dorset based potter Alan Ashpool, studied pottery under Heber Matthews (1905-1959), a foremost student of William Staite Murray and teacher of Hans Coper.
