About the Item

A beautiful and rare vintage flat-weave rug designed by Swedish textile artist Anna Wengholm in the mid-20th century. This handcrafted rölakan rug is a striking example of Swedish folk-modernism, blending geometric precision with playful color. Expertly woven in wool with a harmonious green field framed by a border of stylized multicolored floral motifs and graphic fence-like structures in grey, the rug embodies the clean lines and rhythmic patterns characteristic of Wengholm’s design language. The palette – earthy yet vibrant – reflects the Scandinavian connection to nature and traditional craft. Signed “AW” in the weave, this piece showcases both artistic signature and artisanal mastery. Newly professionally cleaned by a specialist rug cleaner and presented in very good vintage condition, with only minor signs of gentle use. A timeless and collectible piece, perfect as a floor centerpiece or wall hanging in modern, eclectic, or Nordic interiors.
