French Aubusson rug, 19th century Napoleon III
Characteristic French Aubusson rug of the late Baroque style. Distinguished by an ivory background, a floral medallion, defined by sinuous Rococo scrolls with elegant ornamentation of flowers, floats majestically on this classical French Aubusson. handwoven by great tapestry artists in a very delicate pastel color palette, it invokes the images of the palace of Versailles. A beautifully handwoven example, this antique French Aubusson rug has all the hallmarks of French nobility. In a very good state of preservation. Wear due to age and use.
