This Savonnerie rug has a sky-blue field with a large circular ivory roundel with a burgundy-red central roundel with a gold acanthus leaf centre enclosed within by a band of ivory stars and a gold outer band, surrounded by a delicate floral garland with a gold laurel leaf garlands forming panels and enclosing a hanging floral motif, all within a green rope linked by gold ties issuing a burgundy-red floral spray within a gold arched narrow band, the spandrels with a mythological griffin linked a golden pole at each side with a scrolling green leaf motif, at each end a burgundy-red and shaded pink stylised curved vine, in a golden-brown border with a dense floral garland a golden circular roundels between narrow golden-yellow plain stripes.
