Handwoven in wool, this 10x26 antique Aubusson flatweave rug is an extremely rare oversized gallery runner from turn–of-the-century France. Its design favors beige and taupe undertones, with elegant medallions and floral patterns in the French tapestry weave style.
On the design:
Admirers of the craft will appreciate the sheer feat of labor to create such a large-size flatweave as this. Its unusually large cartouches draw the eye to appreciate a seamless flow and immersive, subtle details without end. Punctuations of gold, pink and hues rich and forgiving alike play beautifully together in the field and border alike.
